Freak Seed 1998: (clockwise from top left)
Jason Tremper, Dave Couillou, Joe Yutsus & Keith Pieper
Originally started as a side project by guitarist/singer Dave Couillou, Freak Seed burst onto the Northern Jersey metal scene in 1995 with the release of the 4-song E.P., Grout. Together with longtime friends/band mates Jason Tremper, Keith Pieper and Joe Yutsus - Freak Seed churned out "old school" metal which has been compared to the likes of Testament, Overkill and Metallica.

Through the mid-late 90s, Freak Seed released two self-produced albums - Forward the Foundation (1996) and Ignition (1998), appeared on two compilation CDs - Eclipse Records' Outer Limits and Psykoziz Records' Tentacles of Submission, and had several songs used in the soundtrack of Grey Sky Productions' movie The Master Plan.

Freak Seed's last live performance was in September of 1998. Shortly after that, Jason relocated to Pennsylvania and Dave moved to Florida - which pretty much marked the end of the band. However, while there will be no Freak Seed shows in the foreseeable future, Dave and Jason have been writing and recording songs together again.
You have not heard the last of Freak Seed!

Freak Seed reunion 2009 (2009-03-05)
On Saturday, February 7th, 2009 Dave, Jason, Keith and Joe got together and played for the first time since 1998. The event took place in front of a handful of close friends at Blackbird Studios in Parsippany, NJ. The guys played just about every song from the Freak Seed catalog, and had a great time doing it. With any luck, we won't have to wait another 10+ years to do it again!

Epitaph recording update (2006-04-25)
I'm happy to say that recording has finally resumed on the Epitaph ~ Exhumed project. Over the past couple of weeks, all rhythm guitar tracks have been completed and I recorded solos for "#3", "War Within", "Only Die Once" and "Paralyzed". I have a couple of little things to do on "#3" and then it will be finished. That leaves a few more solos for me, John's solos, and the rest of the vocals. Overall, the recordings sound HUGE!!! It's great to hear these songs coming together after all these years. ~ Jason
